Running in the Family is going to run all 48 continental states!

With the dawn of a new year and a new decade, I’ve launched a new endeavor. I’m going to run through all 48 continental states in the USA! And I can’t think of a better place to kick it off than right here in Corning, NY at the Corning Museum of Glass.

Corning Museum of Glass

Corning Museum of Glass

Corning is a great place for running, with scenic views of the Chemung River Valley, and lots of trails both through protected forests and along the miles of dykes that line the Chemung River.

Corning is also where the Wineglass Marathon ends. This fabulous marathon course starts in Bath, NY and follows the river down to Corning, with the finish line right near the Corning Museum of Glass.

5 miles down, ???? to go…

I ran the first leg of my virtual run through all 48 states on January 2nd, 2010 — heading north from the Corning Museum of Glass up towards Watkins Glen, NY. Please check out the Run 48 States information page to find out more, and follow my progress on the Run 48 States Map.

  • Add my blog to your blogroll and run through Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is a beautiful college town and we have an annual 12 marathon that is called the Dexter — Ann Arbor Run and it is from Dexter, Mi finishing up in Downtown Ann Arbor! Add Ann Arbor to your route! Good luck and keep running. What a great goal. I will be tracking your progress.

    • Thanks for the comment! Ann Arbor is definitely on the list for when I get to Michigan. I’ve actually been there for a brief visit before and thought it was a wonderful place. Perhaps you could suggest a route through Ann Arbor for me?
